Hello!
I'm Phaneendra, a visual and product designer based in Houston.
Currently designing space mission communications at DesignLab, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's in-house creative agency. We collaborate closely with scientists and engineers to bring research to the masses, and proposals to launch. Previously I studied Communication Design and Human-Computer Interaction at Carnegie Mellon.
I'm focused on realizing mission statements with care and a cross-disciplinary toolkit. At the heart of my work is a deep curiosity to understand challenging problems, just a sprinkle of optimism for the future, and a commitment to craft.
Outside of design you can find me exploring nature, film photography, fiber arts, and electronic music!

All of my design decisions are made with confidence, grounded in thorough research. Before presenting a concept to the engineering team, I ensure that every aspect is meticulously prepared, making each design choice objective and well-supported.
Accessibility
A product that is truly human-centered is defined by its accessibility and availability to all users. This approach not only lowers barriers to entry but also enhances the overall engineering quality of the product.
Technical Empathy
In my career, I have consistently sought to understand the technical aspects behind my design choices. I emphasize understanding both engineering and design by studying Computer Information Systems at Cal Poly Pomona and taking additional design training at Art Center College of Design. Additionally, I apply hands-on education by collaborating with Robotics and Mechanical Engineers. With this approach, I fully grasp the technical costs and limitations of my requests, effectively minimizing friction between design and engineering teams.
